Hello everyone. Here I am going to give the basics for fishing as well as other details that can help you be the best angler!

The Basics of FishingYou can start fishing at level 1, however, it isn't until level 40 that fishing begins to really branch out, but even before then it can be quite nice to fish.
Fishing, is actually a good source of income later on as the orange fish you'll be able to fish can drop gold, platinum, and diamond fish.

In addition the kingfish later on can drop some fairly nice trophies or gear in some cases, but usually are just low level junk.
Can be a necklace, ring, cloak, belt, hemlet, armor, or relic. (Relics are the real $$)
However, let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, you need to learn to fish
Here's what the fishing page looks like (See fishing gear in the top left of your Character screen)
There are only two things you need for fishing.
1. Your Rod
2. Your bait
Where as I highly highly highly recommend a fishing gear set, it is not actually required to fish. Just really really nice
These are easily obtainable from any Anonymous Angler Merchant on most maps near the fishing spots. In the very first map, Port Skandia, Seth is an anonymous angler right next to the start.
Here you can buy gear, or lures.
The lures vary in both price and what they do each one being unique to a specific fish.
Once you've got all you need to fish, head to a fishing spot. The white fish are the fishing spots you are able to fish at. Don't worry if you don't see as many as in this picture. The School of Fish isn't unlocked until level 40. A gold fish signifies a fish king. The fish kings spawn every 4 hours except on sunday. (There are two exceptions in that there's a golden fish in Cresent Hill and Cakakakaka forest for a quest later on)
If you want to just have the game tell you how to play. Hit the "Tutorial" button next to the fishing button after you click a school of fish. Or talk to some anglers like "Elle" in Port Skandia.
The short version:
Click the button and hold/let go to keep the golden fish in the blue area.
If you go into the red, your Fishing Equipment Durability drops rapidly, and you will lose the fish.
If you go into the yellow, your Fishing Equipment Durability drops, the fish regains stamina, and you will lose the fish.
Based on what the game tells you in a red system message, you will know what color fish you will get in almost every case.
There are 4 tiers of fish
1. White
2. Green
3. Orange (level 40+)
4. Gold (Fish kings)
There is also a chance miracle cubes can show up too. Inside miracle cubes are emblems used to upgrade Eidolon's stats.
YOU CAN AFK FISH.
Yes, you can afk fish.
Step 1: Click on fishing school
Step 2. Click big blue button
Step 3. Go afk (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■)
If you do not click on the fish icon when it appears, the blue bar never appears and you'll catch the fish directly without the catch animation. However,
You can only catch green fish and below and the green fish are not caught 100% the time. The green fish (and miracle cubes) will sometimes be uninterested since you're not there. The system messages sometimes are wrong if you afk fish in addition.
(The fish king require specific bait only and this will also appear if you're using the wrong bait)
Green fish drop weapon crates depending on the area you fish them of level 30 - 60 weapons.
You can actually sell these for a net profit to NPCs (1000 worms =usually ~ 30 gold gain from level 60 crates)
THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST WAY TO GAIN FRAGMENTS FOR FORTIFICATION

Keep in mind you will NOT get any penguin spawns.
Penguins have a chance to appear after manually reeling in a fish.
There are 3 types of penguins:
1. Penguin Bandit (thief) (Green and below) Drops Bandit Token
2. Nymphet (Orange fish only) Drops Small Tea Flower
3. Nebuchadnezzar (Fish kings only) Drops Nebuchadnezzar Dagger
When these spawn for you you will ALWAYS get the item from them regardless of who kills it (That means it's advantageous to kill other's penguins as they don't have to stop fishing and you have a chance to also get the item)
These items can be turned in for loot boxes can drop a number of things all fishing related after you turn in one of the items into Myrna in Navea.
The Bandit's tokens turned in drop orange crafting material for fishing gear and the Penguin's Bandit fishing set
The Small Tea Flowers turned in drop Gold crafting material and the Nymphet's Fishing set
The Nebuchadnezzar Daggers turned in drop Gold crafting material and the Nebuchadnezzar set.
Improving your gearAs the fish slowly get harder and harder, you are going to want to upgrade your gear to make it faster and make sure you don't lose the fish. This is where fusion formulas and fishing crafting material come in. Fishing sets' bonuses can also give you stats towards your character, not just fishing stats. (◕ω◕)
For example:
You get orange fishing gear fusion formulas from orange fish. There's a chance to discover them inside along with orange crafting material.
Gold fusion formulas come from King Fish as well as golden fishing material (Some unique to that fish king), but you may have to upgrade gear before being able to do fish kings.
Keep in mind, some gold fusions will REQUIRE an orange set piece as a component.
THE EASY WAY TO OBTAIN A GOOD SETIf you recall, fish kings will spawn Nebuchadnezzar Penguins (50% chance per fish caught). There are plenty of people who fish at fish kings and they want as many fish as they can so they do not stop fishing and like people to kill their penguins for you. This not only gives them the dagger, but also gives you a dagger as well. Collect as many as you can by going to fish kings and leeching penguins.
There will be others who do this as well, so try to be as fast as you can targeting with tab and using your fastest skill. Sometimes there are too many farming at once in which case you should try another channel. Even if a channel has less fishers, if you get majority of the penguins rather than a fraction, you will get more there.
Ravagers don't do nothing but spinning! Leech fair. Don't be a Spinfag. 
You know who you are. Stop it!Using this method, you should have opened many Nebuchadnezzar chests and you'll find the Nebuchadnezzar set inside of those. With this set you can farm all the fish kings (Except for Rainmist Reach you cannot and Emerald Marsh/Demarch Mines are difficult. Hypnotoad OP)
** If you want to fish to earn all your gear you'll have to work your way up the level gear and if you want to know Great White is the best lvl 40 set.
